The Conservation Canine program of the UW’s Center for Conservation Biology pioneered the use of rescued dogs to find wild animal scat (feces) of selected species. We use these samples to assess animal health at individual, population and community levels. One our projects involves monitoring impacts of wolf recovery on the wildlife community in NE Washington State, following their 90 year absence.
