Chocolate and Wine Tasting Party for up to 12 people at Board Member Nancy Ritzenthaler's West Seattle home with hors d'oeuvres by Nancy and various artisan chocolates paired with master winemaker Matt Gubutosa's ANIMALE wines
Did you know that a single artisan dark chocolate bar can have more than 500 flavors available to your palate? That’s more than two and half times the flavors available in red wine. Chocolate also undergoes its own fermentation process and is grown in some of the earth’s richest soils. Of course, red wine makes you tipsy. Smackdown over. Whether you succumb to Chocolate Euphoria or Red Wine Glow first won’t matter, because you don’t have to choose. Bring your friends for a night of fun and pure decadence. Come and learn the dark secrets of two of world’s most complex foods.
Master winemaker Matt Gubitosa brings his label ANIMALE for sampling. ANIMALE has been favorably reviewed by The Seattle Times, Northwest Palate, Robert M. Parker's Wine Advocate, Wine & Spirits Magazine, and Wine Press Northwest. From Northwest-Wine.com "Matt Gubitosa masterfully blends an academic background in geology with a passion for making intense, highly-extracted red wines. Matt’s approach to winemaking can be aptly described as 'pragmatic poetry.'" ANIMALE, located in Ballard, crafts distinctive and interesting Washington wines using fruit from highly select, family-farmed Yakima, Columbia and Willamette Valley vineyards. Among the fabulous wines Matt will sample with you include Pinot Noir, Petit Sirah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Syrah.
Lisa Phelps Dawes, Chocolate Diva, makes nothing whatsoever, but will happily share her oddly savant-like knowledge of artisan chocolate. The chocolate itself she gives up more grudgingly, but will bring the best the world has to offer: Michel Cluizel, Amedei, Domori, Claudio Corallo, Valrhona, and others. Don’t miss this rare opportunity for indulgence in the guise of education.
Thank you, Matt Gubitosa & ANIMALE, Lisa Phelps Dawes, and Nancy Ritzenthaler & Al Odmark

Boulder Reef Family Camp is a private, rustic retreat sitting on 20 acres. It includes a gravel beach, a small pond frequented by birds and otters, an abandoned orchard, and wooded trails. Grassy rural roads cross Sinclair Island and are great for walking, jogging and bicycling. A gravel spit offers up all the clams you care to dig. Bicycles and kayaks are provided at the camp along with everything you need for archery, badminton, volleyball, bocce, and more. This will be a week to remember!
